We designed and deployed a secure, high-availability Fortinet SD-WAN solution across multiple remote distribution centers, modernizing connectivity and enabling intelligent failover using Starlink.
Project Highlights
Site Rollout:
Successfully implemented the solution across several geographically dispersed remote locations.
Networking Stack:
Installed FortiGate appliances at each site with SD-WAN configured to prioritize MPLS as the primary link.
Integrated Starlink Gen3 kits at remote sites as redundant backup uplinks to ensure consistent uptime during MPLS outages.
Smart Routing & Failover:
Configured SD-WAN policies to intelligently route traffic based on real-time link health, latency, and throughput.
Enabled seamless, automatic failover between MPLS and Starlink with zero user disruption.
Security & Management:
Applied application-aware firewall policies and site-to-site VPNs to ensure secure communication across all locations.
Leveraged FortiManager and FortiCloud for centralized configuration, monitoring, and remote support.
Outcome
This deployment delivered a resilient and scalable network backbone for distributed operations—balancing performance, uptime, and cost. With Starlink acting as a reliable backup, remote sites now benefit from continuous internet availability even in underserved areas.
